The sun god, Ra, was one of the most important gods in ancient Egypt. He was believed to travel across the sky every day on a solar boat, bringing light and warmth to the world. At night, he would journey through the underworld, battling evil forces to ensure the sun would rise again the next day.
Anubis was the god of mummification and the afterlife. He had the body of a human and the head of a jackal. Ancient Egyptians believed that Anubis would guide the spirits of the dead to the underworld and weigh their hearts against a feather to determine if they were worthy of entering the afterlife.
Isis was a powerful goddess who represented motherhood, magic, and healing. She was believed to have wings and could fly. Isis was married to her brother Osiris, and when he was killed by their jealous brother Set, she used her magic to bring him back to life, making her a symbol of resurrection and eternal life.
Osiris was the god of the afterlife, agriculture, and fertility. He was often shown with green skin, symbolizing rebirth and growth. After being killed by his brother Set, Osiris became the ruler of the underworld, where he would judge the souls of the deceased.
Horus was the god of the sky, war, and kingship. He was depicted with the head of a falcon and was believed to have the sun and moon as his eyes. Horus was the son of Isis and Osiris, and he fought his evil uncle Set to avenge his father’s death and become the ruler of Egypt.
Hathor was the goddess of love, beauty, music, and motherhood. She was often shown as a cow or with cow-like features because cows were considered gentle and nurturing animals. Ancient Egyptians believed that Hathor would welcome the dead into the afterlife with music and dancing.
